So once you have created a few – or a couple hundred – characters, there’s a handful of reasons you might start thinking about getting rid of some of your bots.
Why Delete A Character AI Bot?
For seasoned Character AI users, you might reach the point where you have simply lost count of the number of characters you have created.
Not to mention all the conversations you have had with them.
Removing a character is purely an organizational concern.
For other users, Character AI privacy is very important.
It is possible to create or edit an existing character so that they are private and only visible to you.
However, you might not trust Character AI’s security or data policy.
You also might not want any of your characters or chats associated with them to be associated with your account or real-life identity.
Can You Remove A Character AI Created Character?
Yes, you can delete a Character AI that you created.
However, it is not as simple as clicking a delete button.
The Character AI development team has acknowledged this shortcoming.
With how valuable human chat data is to AI model training, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the lack of a delete option is a feature and not a bug.

How To Delete A Character AI Character
To remove a specific Character AI bot that you created, we are going to edit all of the character’s information.
First, select the character that you want to delete.
Go to the chat message history and delete all your prior conversations.
Then, go to the edit screen for the character.
Next, you will delete all the existing information about your character, including its name and any descriptions that you added.
Finally, add in some filler text to the required fields. I simply type in ‘—’ because you must enter at least three characters into the form.
You have now successfully removed your character.
Alternatively, you can create a brand-new character instead of replacing your character’s name and description with placeholder text.
Repurposing the character slot will prevent a build-up of deleted characters in your account.
